About
First and foremost, all are welcome. If you want to come-out and work off some cottage-cheese, feel free to drop us a line or sign up on the Rocket Sauce e-mail distribution list (below) and you'll be kept abreast on if we're playing and where.
How We Communicate...
Rocket Sauce email distribution is handled by Yahoo Groups for getting the word out on weekly games and activities. It provides a fairly effortless means for us to communicate and a good compliment to this web site. Basically, this is how it works:
- If you're interested in playing and being on the e-mail distribution list, send an e-mail to rocketsauce-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You'll get an automated e-mail asking you to confirm the invitation and be added to the list. Go for it. You'll always have the chance to unsubscribe at any time.
- On Thursday or Friday afternoon one of the faithful will send out a "Who's interested?" e-mail for the upcoming Monday.
- You need only respond to the e-mail if you're intersted or 'In', as we like to say.
- Monday, on or before 2PM, you'll get a confirmation e-mail letting you know if we are a 'go' along with a roster.
- If we won't have enough players or the weather sucks, I'll be sure to let everyone know around 2PM, so make sure you'll be able to get to your e-mail at that time.
- Please don't show up to play without checking with me or someone else from the group first, as the scrimmage may have been canceled for any number of reasons. I wouldn't want to see anyone drive 30 minutes so they can stand around at an empty field by themselves. That's a total buzz kill.
Want To Play?
If you're still interested, come on by! Invite your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, mailman, whoever. As long as they can live by a few of the loose rules of Rocket Sauce, it's all good:
- It's a game! We're all out here to burn-off a few Big Macs, hang with some cool people and relieve a little stress. If you're still bitter about not going to the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games for Ultimate Frisbee, stay home.
- We welcome all ages and genders. If your 10 year old nephew or 70-year-old mother in-law is in town and you want to bring 'em out for an afternoon of fun, no sweat. If they show up and they want to play, they'll play. It's as simple as that.
- Ultimate is not a contact sport.
- We try our best to adhere to all the rules of the game. We'll probably let you slide on the first couple of travels, fouls, etc. and then give you a quick education on how to play the game correctly. After that, it'll most likely be called.
- Bring a light and dark colored shirt with you each week. We choose up sides when we get to the field and different colored shirts make the controlled mayhem a little less daunting.
- We'd highly suggest bringing a pair of soccer cleats . We play on a pretty nice grass field and its hard to play hard when you're sliding around like a nimrod.
- It's a game, have fun.
